Oh my - you've done well! I've already read Carlos Ruiz Zafón's The Shadow of the Wind. It's opening page is written with the most beautiful imagery depicting 'beneath a sky of molten copper' if my memory is correct. Except what sets this book apart, and at the top, is the characterisation. Not just of the players but of the city itself. There are moments of poetic beauty and those moments sit comfortably beside the bawdy comedy of one particular character who often manages to be poetic and bawdy at the same time! There is a sadness in Zafón's writing, a darkness and intrigue running through the story that keeps it moving at a wonderful pace. It was a fantastic read, and I have the first edition.
Grave's I Claudius I've also read and watched the film with Derek Jacobi playing C-C-Claudius. Wonderful acting.
I think you will enjoy any of Peter Ackroyd's books. They are painstakingly well plotted and with virtually no 'sag' halfway through the books. His book Death of King Arthur remains unread in my library room back home in England. Among 2,000+ others. My late mother was a serial bookworm in addition to being totally bats. (see my blog, 'An Attic Full of Bats')
Bon reading!

Just finished these two.
Going to start this next, I think. Trying to find a picture that works and isn't huge.
If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first
The axe forgets, but the tree remembers

I am going to be starting another book tomorrow as well. It is a short story collection so I'll probably try and read a story a day or half a story a day.
Here it is:
These are both book club picks and I am excited to give them a shot. Both interest me for different reasons.

^^Greek & Roman mythology is fascinating. I'm wondering what the author actually means by 'a modern retelling'.

I haven't started it but I believe that it means that the myths will be retold from modern/contemporary times. Also, I love greek and roman mythology. I took a greek mythology class back when I was in school and it was fascinating.

Read the top book and didn't care for it too much. Working on the second one now. I'm also reading my Ethics and Abnormal Psych book though.

I guess that's where 'modern retelling' comes into play.
I already struggle with retellings so I am not going to spend time trying to get through it.
Here is what I'll be reading at some point in the next few days:
I am hoping to get this read before I start working so about a week. However, the chapters are a bit longer then I'd like and I have a lot of stuff coming up in the next few days. If I don't finish it will be a good book to take with me to read at my lunch break.

One Kick by Chelsea Cain. I couldn’t sleep so I randomly grabbed it from my shelf and I finished it in less than an hour.

This author has a series and I've read the first one. It was pretty good. I think I read it relatively quickly but I was in a bit of a slump when I read it. I liked it because it was a fast read. Going to have to look into this particular book though!

I am reading about bitcoin now. All my friends are talking about it. Quite interesting thing i would say. If you don't know what is it, you may try to understand via https://bitcoinbestbuy.com/ But for more deep understanding better to read books, it doesn't matter what theme you're in. Sorry for my English, i am still learning it.

I am hoping to finish this during the weekend. It's 221 pages and I am 50 pages in. Hoping to get to page 100 today and then read the other 121 tomorrow. Might even be able to finish it today if I put enough time into it.
It's decent but the narrative style is hard to get into. I get why it's that way but it's hard for me to connect because it seems discombobulated.

Tin man is short so I could probably finish it this weekend and start Finding Rebecca on Monday but Finding Rebecca seems mildly more interesting.

Finished the tin man. Going to wait on Finding Rebecca and start:
It's been on my tbr and kindle since last year so I'll try it. I think it's considered a dark contemporary.
If I can't get into it I'll start finding Rebecca

I am choosing to read this instead of the other book. I think this is more what I am looking to read at this point in time.

I was reading this and I am 83 pages in. I am not connecting with the characters and the format is irritating. I will put it down and try and pick it back up sometime this month. I read the first book in this trilogy and I enjoyed the format so I think I'm just not in the mood for the writing and things like that.
Hoping to start:
I might end up putting this book down too as it's longer but I have been in the mood for longer books so I think it will be fine. If I am struggling I might switch back to Gemina as Gemina should be a quick read.
