Mom in U.K. Fined for Grieving Too Long at Baby Son's Funeral -
August 6th 2009, 05:28 PM
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,536594,00.html A grieving mother in Britain was fined $173 for spending too long at her son's coffin before it was taken away for cremation.
In the greater cosmic scheme of things, does it really matter?

That is disgusting. She was saying goodbye to her son and she shouldn't be fined for it. It says that there was 50 minutes between that funeral and the next so it's not like she cut into the next one, so why would there be any problem with that? They need to understand people can't just say goodbye in a few seconds.

Fox News re-reporting a story from the Daily Mail? It's like a perfect storm of fact-free right-wing pseudo-journalism.

That is absoloutly disgusting. They m,ust be absoloutly DESPERATE for money. Under no circumstances is it right to fine someone for wanting to spen a few minutes longer with their son or daughter.

I do think this is horrible, I understand that it costs the crematorium a lot to keep the furnace lit ... but surely they should inform people of any extra charges before the funeral? Rather than waiting for them to grieve and then send them an extra bill ...

There was actually no fine given to the woman at all- basically someone anonymously wrote into a paper saying the council were going to, and although the council barely had any intent to, the thing got carried away into this.
Again people- this is why you should always check your facts about the news. Especially if it's from FOX and The Daily Mail combined

One more reason I don't trust FOX.
Glad to hear she wasn't actually fined.

I'm hoping it's them just being liars again, because that's sick. I think the FOX-Daily Mail combination renders that completely unlikely though.

Just the fact that they would even consider a fine for a poor mother who's lost a child she carried for 9 months way too early is just sick.
It's a baby that was taken too soon.. not like she was saying good bye to her friggin grand dad.

Well if you bothered to read the article, which i doubt you did, the link at the bottom says "click to read more", and when you do that the rest of the article explains that the money was refunded.
Its sad how its not even a political article, its an article about a baby dying, and some people can't even focus on the family hurting, they just look for something in the article to attack fox news for.
