Vegetarian.

So, I'm thinking about turning to vegetarianism due to my love of animals and just wanting to try new foods.

I was just wanting to know how hard it was for you to go from eating meat nearly your whole life to not eating it at all. Was it easier than what people make it out to be? Do you still eat seafood? I think chicken and seafood will be my downfall. :nosweat:

Also any tips on getting the vitamins I need from not eating meat anymore? I'm currently taking vitamin C, cranberry and iron tablets as well as Centrum.

I tried Vegetarianism for a while. It actually wasn't that difficult; during that time, I barely craved meat.

Most substitutes contain the vitamins in place of meat, but talk to the doctor about this change in diet. Make sure you can consume soy products, otherwise it's way harder. It can be done, I did it without soy, but it was harder on planning meals to get the nutrients.

If you love seafood, consider the pescatarian diet. It's like vegetarian, but you can eat seafood. There's also pesco pollo vegetarian, avoiding red meats, but eats chicken and seafood.

Thanks for your reply! :)

I was thinking about the pescatarian diet today actually and I looked into it. I do love a good fish and chips. :bleh:

I was a daily meat eater and I couldn't imagine my life without eating some type of meat. It was a little difficult at first, but change comes in small doses. Give yourself allowances to eat meat if you really want to. You don't have to go 100% veg to be successful. Think of it as a long term goal!

These Reddit subreddits really helped me.

Hi ^.^

I've been vegetarian for 10 years.
It's very importnant to get enough protein - like nuts, tofu and so on.
If you have any questions, just send me a PM.
I'll be happy to help you.

Hugs from Lucy

How do you find it?

Re: Vegetarian.

I've been vegetarian since I was 10 years old - totally out of my own choice. I must say I do not ever recall it being difficult for me even though I was so young when I decided to become a vegetarian. None of my family members were vegetarian or any of my friends. I don't remember much however I do know that I would never look back. I did after a few years begin to eat fish very occasionally so I guess technically I am a pescatarian.. Anyway I love being a vegetarian, I don't really find any difficulty in finding stuff to eat (I do have an eating disorder so this is probably why haha ) but even so I do not have issues with finding vegetarian/pescatarian foods - I hope you find it okay

Thank you for your reply. I am finding it a little harder on some days than what I thought I did. I'll go a week or so without eating any meat and only being on a pescatarian/vegetarian diet and other days (like last night) I caved in and had a beef burger. :glare:
