mom vent
 

SO yestrday I was drawing with my mother and it ended horribly. I drew an eye and my mom was like "let me show you how to ACTUALLY draw an eye" (Me taking an art class). and when she showed me it was much worse...now I feel really insecure of my eyes. Then when I was drawing a person she kept critiquing and making me insecure of my people drawings. Im thinking about quitting art.

so i dont know your family or your mom or your situation
but i have a friend whos dad does something the same as that
and well they had a big fight once
he swore up and down he didnt realize he was being mean
he just was trying to give advice and do something with him so they could spend time together
they didnt become friends for a long while after that fight...
but still


i dont know if you have a mean mom
but she may just be dumb right now
like she wants to help but she doesnt know how to help nicely
and she doesnt realize shes being mean
maybe she does
maybe shes doing it on purpose
but... if theres a chance she doesnt realize it...
then maybe being the better person could help here


something like uhhh
"hey i love painting with you mom but your being a jerkface right now so quit it otherwise i wont enjoy spending time with you"
and shed be all "oh im just trying to help"
and youd be all "yeah i know and i want to apreciate it but your doing it in the worst way possible how could you feel if i tried to help you by telling you your doing a straight line all wrong and then i showed you how to draw a straight line"


if she gets it great
if she doesnt get it then shes probably being mean on purpose
i hope she gets it tho
