My Dad And Grandparents -
October 22nd 2024, 08:24 AM
My Dear family wants me to Keep My Clothes and Stuff but I really want to Sell My Clothes and Donate My Stuff that I don't Want to Own Anymore since they don't understand That I want to Make some Room for Stuff for My New Gothic Doomer Lifestyle. So I don't know what to do? cause I'am so Miserable since we end up Arguing all the time now cause They believe that I should just use The Things that I have instead of getting New Things/right now it seems like I'am Just another Ungrateful Teenage Girl but I really need to Express whom I'am.

They can't believe that their Sweet and Happy Sophia has turned into an Mopey And Anxious Goth Girl. I'am really dying for not getting some New Dresses because I need alot more Feminine Clothes in my Closet but I have this Huge gut feeling that My Father and Grandparents are preventing me unconsciously from being myself. I can't wait until I'am finally 18 so that I can Get My own room in a Group Home far away from Them since I feel like They are controlling My Life and it's driving me Crazy.

Try talking with all of them when you and they are all in a good mood or write a letter about what is happening and then talk. Good luck with this.

Hi there,
Feeling like your family doesn't support who you're becoming can definitely be challenging. I remember going through something similar when I was a teenager. Perhaps you could try talking to your family about what the changes in the way you dress mean to you and how new clothes will help you better express yourself. If they're upset about you donating your old clothes, you might also try reminding them that they aren't your style anymore and that donating them gives someone else the opportunity to get new clothes that they will love.
While self-expression is definitely an important part of growing up, sometimes compromise is necessary. If it doesn't seem like you're going to get anywhere with them supporting you making a complete change, you may have better luck finding smaller ways to express yourself without changing everything that they're used to. For instance, you might change the way you do your makeup or style your hair. You can also accessorize in ways that show your goth aesthetic, even if your full outfit isn't goth. As time goes on, you can add more pieces to your wardrobe until you feel that you are able to express yourself in the truest sense.
I hope this helped some!
Take care,

Goth till you drop. It sounds like one of those battles that may need to be one at a later time. I find with throwing tuff out that my parents hate it (different generation & access to stuff), but if they say no and I wait a month anyway, they never even notice it's gone. Maybe try this!
