I think it's great that you're thinking about telling your parents about your self harm. It's such a big step forward in the right direction - you should be really proud of yourself!

There are a few ways you can go about it. Ultimately how you do it is up to you in the end though. You know your parents way better than any of us do. I think it's much easier for me to have a set time and date for when I'm going to tell them something important so maybe go and schedule on a date that you're going to tell them. This makes it easy for you to prepare and makes it less likely to skip over it! It might also help to write it all out. Think about everything you want to tell them or how you want to word it out to them a few days or a few hours before. That way you know what you're going to say. It might also help to just write a letter to them, or have it written down while you talk to them.

I hope this is helpful! Good luck!

Honestly, telling my parents that I self harm was one of the hardest things I have ever done. But since I told them, I feel like they understand me a bit better. How I told them is I just blurted it out. I first told him I was going to tell them something serious, and that I didn't want them to get mad at me, then I told them. It was hard. Took me a few days to work up the courage.

Let us know what happens! Best of luck.
