FTM:Hope to packing, but parents won't help., now what? - July 30th 2014, 06:05 PM

I've been really bad on my gender dsyphoria and have been looking in packing. Recently, i've packed with socks or just anything to have the apperence there's something I'm missing in my pants. Just yesteraday I asked to buy me a packer, but it didnt work out, because it's shameful and stuff. Now I don't know what to do, I need a packer and I know it well. I know there's some methods of getting a packer like using a pre-paid card and order it off line but being 14 and in an asian family, my parents don't give me money for anything. And advices?

Do you have any friends who are supportive of your gender identity? If so, maybe when you DO get the money, do you think you'd be able to give them the money and have them order it for you, and then give it to you? If it makes you feel more comfortable you can be there with them when they order it, so you know your money is going for what it is intended for.

I don't know what type of neighborhood you live in, but perhaps you can do odd jobs to raise some of the cash, such as mowing lawns or walking dogs. You can also do something such as babysit. If you have any family, family friends, or friend's parents who would pay for these services, you can advertise to them as well. If you get birthday gifts, maybe ask for money and say it's because you don't know what else you want. This is a SLOW way to save money, but if you have any cans, bottles, or glass bottles, save them and return them to a cans & bottles collection place. It's not fast cash, but it may add up.

I don't know how expensive packers are, but at least if you are able to do odd jobs around the neighborhood and with other family members and friends, you will have a way of earning money on your own to hopefully be able to get it yourself. You'd probably be able to buy your own pre-paid card as well to use, if you are able to get your money. I know my city has a Youth Services program that allows teens to work over the summer. I know this summer is almost over but maybe you can look into something like that for next year.

Perhaps in the meantime you can talk to someone like a doctor, or guidance counselor at school. Maybe your guidance counselor can give you information on where to go for FTM resources where they may offer support or even discounted products.
