My friend using mint extract's alcohol - March 20th 2011, 04:33 PM

Okay Mccormick Mint extract's are like 90% alcohol and when I'm going over to my friend's house today he said he's going to buy a few bottles and get drunk. THis is really dumb dude I want to grab him and shake him and tell him no fucking way dude I'm sure that it isn't the same alcohol in booze and he'll get really sick and even OD and the mint oil in it will make him burn like hell and feel sick. I don't even think it will get you drunk dude I am really concerned? Is that shit safe to drink dude?

My friends and I usually stay out of eachother's business when it comes to this stuff but dude I'd rather have him buy normal booze than an ingredient where you are only supposed to use a few drops in food and drink the whole thing.

From what I've looked up, you can't OD on mint extract. Also, the alcohol in the mint extract is the same as alcohol for consumption, just a lot more powerful. I've have experience with tinctures before and usually people try to get the purest alcohol possible for that since it aids in distilling the herb while evaporating quickly during cooking.

That aside, drinking extracts is unwise: they will likely get you drunk very fast because they're a close to pure alcohol as you can get. Due to that, it can be very easy to get sick off of it. I would definitely recommend drinking normal alcohol over that nasty stuff.
