Drugs, Alcohol and Addiction Whether you are combating substance abuse or struggling with another addiction such as gambling, this forum is here to provide support and answer your questions.
So as the title states, I have an issue of being easily addicted/obsessed with things/people very quickly.
Since last year, I became quickly attached to a guy and am still liking him. He has told me face up that he only likes me as a friend. However, due to my obsessive personality, I always tell myself that he is hiding his feelings. I know that this isn't true but I just can't get over him, and it is really getting me down.
Is there anything I can do to stop this addiction?
PS. I see him everyday and in my classes as well.
If sorry you feel this way! i have that same problem i get attached to people really quickly, and i always beat myself up about it becasue i know i stand "no chance" The only thing i could suggest is that you keep your mind busy when your out with guys or around guys, i feel like i need someone and it's reallly getting me down, c'mon your stronger than this you've proved it by posting here, i'm pround of you for getting help
It will get better, if you EVER need anything please feel free to PM me.
I hope you feel better very soon!

An addiction implies you have no control over your actions. In this situation, however, you do. Yes, you may become easily attached to people, and yes, you may feel the urge to poke and prod when you want to know what they're thinking... but you CAN control your actions. When you catch yourself thinking about a person more than you believe is "normal" or "healthy", find another activity to take your mind off of that person. When you find yourself tempted to ask questions you shouldn't, stop and think about what you're about to do and how that could negatively affect your friendship/relationship with the other person. I know it's hard, but I believe you can control this. =)
I would stop talking to him as much and try to find other activities. Hang out with him occasionally, but stay busy and keep it at a minimal. It's not what you want to hear, but the obsession isn't good.
