Friend's Medication concerns

My friend suffers from severe depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. She is uninsured and her medication runs from about $30-$50 or something like that.

She's been to a crisis clinic twice on counts of attempted suicide. BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T AFFORD HER MEDICATION.

Is there anyway she can still get her medication? :?

Hi there.

I don't have an answer for this but if you tell me where about you friend lives I can try and find any solutions if possible.

Re: Friend's Medication concerns

First thing I would do is ask a pharmacist about it. They're usually full of information when it comes to anything medication related, including drugs plans and options when it comes to pricing.
2nd I would check if there's generic versions of her medication and check to see if she's on them if there is. Generic medication is almost exactly the same, does the exact same thing (for most people) and cost A LOT less.

3rd, and this might be totally useless information. Are you sure she's not on a drug plan? $30-$50 is actually quite cheap for medication a month, my medication run around $500 a month before insurance. Even with insurance last month I had to pay about $85.
But then again I probably take more than her, it still sounds quite cheap for medication.

But I guess it depends where you live.

Is she able to go back to the doctor that prescribed it and see if they can help by giving her samples? I know they've done it for me.

Yeah, I was expecting in the hundreds, most antidepressants are in the hundreds of dollars, and schizophrenia even worse, so I would check on that price. How old is she, what country are you guys from, and other information will help a lot to fully answer your question. :) I would guess Canada or US from using dollar amounts, but I"m not sure.
