My eating disorder
I have bulimia, and I'm over it. Its all I think about 24/7, and while everyone is out having a good time Im always at home because if I go out I might buy bad food and that will lead to a binge and then a purge. I just need to know if there is anyone out there that is going through the same thing, because I know no one that is and I feel so alone all the time.

Re: My eating disorder
Are you seeing a professional about your bulimia? I'm so sorry it often distracts you from your day to day life. But staying in your room won't help in the long run, you're going to want to go out with friends! You need to learn some coping mechanisms for when you want to go buy large amounts of food.
What kind of thoughts go through your head when you're going to buy food? And you're not alone. I don't suffer from bulimia, but I suffer from symptoms of different eating disorders that has never been diagnosed. Trying to obtain good eating habits. Doesn't always work. But I try. :) Message me if you ever need, I"m always around. |
Re: My eating disorder
thankyou for replying :) yes I am seeing a psychologist at the moment but I dont get to see her often. When I go out I usually get some sort of food thats 'unacceptable' so when I get home I think well I may as well go for it Ive already blown it :( I cant get rid of this mindset and whenever Im stressed or upset I binge as a way to deal with it. I dont really have a coping mechanism, can you suggest anything?

Re: My eating disorder
I've not suffered with bulimia, but I know for certain that you are not alone. There are so many people going through similar things, some of which are my friends. Just look around the eating disorder forum. There's no reason for you to feel alone, we are here for you.

Re: My eating disorder
Well, I would confide in a friend about your eating disorder, and go shopping with her. She can help you buy what you need, without buying the triggering comfort foods, and help you stay healthy. :)
There are also many coping mechanisms to keep yourself calm during an urge to binge and purge. Ground yourself: Count to ten up and down, do some breathing exercises. Realize you're here now, and you're going to make the right decision, and everything will be alright. There are more in a new post I'm starting, about different ways of coping with Eating Disorder urges! You should check it out. :) You can add to it, or get ideas from others suffering as well. :) http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f15-e...ing-disorders/ |
