eating disorder?.. - November 26th 2013, 11:55 AM

I'm not sure if I have an eating disorder or not...I go days, sometimes weeks if i can, eating as little as possible. And when I do eat, I sometimes just end up throwing up later. I just feel so fat, ya know? Sometimes I'll just eat and eat, I think the longest I've done that is an hour and a half. I can't stand the way I look. Sometimes food is a comfort, and other times its my enemy, and the constant change between the two drives me crazy and is one reason I self harm... I just want an opinion on if I have an eating disorder, maybe even some advice? I'm not really sure what to do.

Hello again Diamond,

We can't actually diagnose you with an eating disorder, we're not professionals, however from what you're saying, I would say that you definitely should see a professional about this, because this isn't good for you. You're restricting your body from what it needs in order to function correctly and this is really unhealthy.

You also mention that you self harm because of the change between comfort and discomfort, have you thought about this?; You're restricting your body of nutrients that it needs to run CORRECTLY, meaning that your body is trying to give you signals that it wants food by 'driving you crazy' as you've said? I'm no expert, but I've been through the early development of an ED, and I had similar feelings towards food, I can still currently only eat very little without feeling the urge to throw up.

As I said, I'm no expert in this section but I know from personal experience that this is not good for you, and you should try and see a specialist at some point.

I hope you're okay, be safe.

~Jack.

Hello Diamond,

Like Jack said, we can't diagnose you with an Eating Disorder. We can however support you through this, and encourage you to see a professional about your concerns and self harm. I can say that this isn't healthy, and that you should really consider seeing a doctor about this.

If you ever need to talk, feel free to PM me or write back on the forums.
