What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
So, I'm just curious how common certain eating disorders are, because I have non-purging bulimia nervousa. Please vote! :?
Thanks! |
Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
I'm mainly anorexic but I do purge and rarely I'll binge. So I guess that's close enough to be classified as bulimia as well.

Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
To clarify, do you mean what people have been diagnosed with, what they think they have, what their pattern of behavior best matches, ect? Just curious :)
& I believe EDNOS is the most common, according to the professionals. It's what around 50% of eating disorder patients suffer with. I THINK. I read it in a leaflet, so may not be an entirely credible source :nosweat: |
Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
I put EDNOS because my eating disorder is actually a secondary disorder (primary being depression and PTSD). Or like a reaction. I restrict food when I have memories/flashbacks because of my PTSD.

Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
EDNOS - I have tendencies of anorexia, bulimia, and binge.
For me, it's another form of SH. Depression is also a factor because I never feel good enough and all that. So. Yeah. That's my story. |
It's cool! I was just curious, and thought I would put a poll out there! Thanks for voting ;)
Oh and Laura, I don't really know, either one I guess, haha. |
Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
With your clarification, I'll vote EDNOS, I've suffered with habits of purging and restricting, but don't meet the criteria of most eating disorders.
I am not diagnosed, and sadly with my fun health insurance, doesn't look like I'll ever get traditional treatment, but I'm trying. |
Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
I voted EDNOS, even though I've not been diagnosed. I could be overreacting, whatever, I don't normally talk about it here.
I think EDNOS probably would be the most common, because anorexia nervosa/bulimia nervosa/binge eating disorder all have very specific criteria, whereas EDNOS is just kind of... everyone else who has disordered eating but doesn't fit the criteria for a 'proper' eating disorder. That's just how I've always understood it, correct me if I'm wrong :) |
Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
Forgot I didn't actually vote :nosweat: Anorexia. I was diagnosed with it in January, been in recovery since ^.^

Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
I have EDNOS.

Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
I ticked both Bulimia Nervousa (purging) and EDNOS, because I have been diagnosed with both, different times. Because my actions from the eating disorder vary. It started out diagnosed as EDNOS, because I didn't purge, and didn't fit the criteria for Bulimia, but then later on in the progression, I fell into the criteria and eventually did begin to purge, and was then diagnosed as Bulimic. So sorta glad you could tick more than one, since I wasn't sure exactly what to put down, seeing as it's bounced back and forth before.

Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
I actually have purge eating disorder, so I went and selected the 'purging' bulimic option.
|
Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
I voted EDNOS as I don't fit the diagnostic criteria specifically for any of them, but I do have an eating disorder, although undiagnosed.

Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
Am I the only one with non-purging bulimia?! >.< ewww..I mean I have purged, but when I'm "actively" bulimic, I mainly binge and starve. /:

Re: What kind of eating disorder do YOU have?
EDNOS.
I go through periods where I'll restrict like crazy, but I don't keep it up long enough to have my weight be low enough for anorexia. |
