I was just wondering if it is okay to be upset about an attempted rape? It was by a friend of mine and I keep feeling like I don't "deserve" to be upset about it because it wasn't exactly successful. :/

Nicole is right, you have every right to be upset because of what that friend did.

Even attempted would have made quite an impact. Even if he didn't succeed, he TRIED, he had that intention, so of course you have a right to be upset about it.

you have every right to be upset because it would have happened if something didn't go wrong that made him unsuccessful. It was still a traumatic experience. I have also been through the experience of an attempted rape and every time I see the person that was about to rape me I am soo scared I can hardly talk. I also have nightmares about him too. Its scary. I have gone through all the creepiness now and I know how to control how I feel. If you want me to help you out you can always PM me

Hey there
Rape, successful or not, is a traumatic experience. Especially when the person involved is a "friend". But none of it was your fault. And you have EVERY right to feel upset.
Don't be too hard on yourself. You don't have to go through this alone. You can talk to people around you. Take your time to deal with it.
You're always welcome to shoot me a PM/VM if you'd like to talk about anything.
Take care
