Hey,

Yes, I can say that this has happened to me before. It is a matter of finding alternatives that work for you, though, so you can beat the urge. Have you ever checked out this alternatives list? There are some pretty helpful things on it. Are you completely sure the urges are out of nowhere? There could be things triggering you without you even realizing it. Try writing down what has happened throughout your day, taking note of what time it is when you are triggered and what you are doing when it occurred, to see if you can notice any patterns and try to work out a solution from there. I hope this helps! :)

As a matter of fact yes. Back 1 1/2 years ago when I still cut, I would cut even if I didnt need to. If your feeling that way, then I highly recommend seeking help to stop.

I've never been there myself, but I know people who have. If you're feeling that way, it's in your best interest to seek some sort of help. I know, that sounds so cliche, but it's the truth. What can I say? Professionals know what to do to help. :)

You can stop. It just takes trying, and wanting to stop. I think it would help to look and try some of the alternatives in the link that Dez gave you. They help. I hope all goes well for you. :)
Don't hesitate to PM me if you want to talk. <3

Hey....just try controlling that urge to cut all right? I know...it's gonna be tough, but still, there's no harm in trying right? Stay strong and take care. :) xx

Yes this had happened to me a few times. But I am also proof that even after you get that far you can still learn to quit so don't give up!

Counselling takes time. It is a slow process. And it is possible that your counselor may not work for you and you have to look for someone who does.
The important question here is that why did you hate counseling?

i think i hated counselling so much because i was forced to go. it was not voluntary.. i needed my time to get used to opening up about it and i didnt get that.

Counseling didn't help me too much either, but dance does. If you can immerse youself in something creative, then it's easier to fight the urges.

But also with counseling I never had luck with my therapists, but my school psychologist is wonderful. You really just need to find the right person to talk to.

What I've also found helpful is finding a puropse for myself. Right now I'm trying to change my school's bullying curriculum so it's more relevant to the kids at my school. If you set some sort of goal for yourself, the goal should distract you from the urges.

I have cut just because I wanted to, with no underlying cause. But I'm nearly 12 weeks free now. If I can do it, so can anyone else; including you.

As for counseling, I can honestly say it works for some people but if you don't have an open mind to it, you're not going to find that it works for you. It all depends on your feelings, the counselor, the situations, etc. Search for someone you trust that you can talk to. Even if its not a licensed psychologist and if its school guidance counselor or a friend, you'll never know until you try. :)

I definitely did. I still get random urges, some worse than others.

I used to cut every day so it's not weird to get the urge like that. Find someone who's willing to talk u through those times. My best friend is always willing to stay up half the night talking me through it. U need someone u trust to listen.
