How are you beating self-harm? -
March 16th 2020, 01:00 AM
There have been a few threads like this and I wanted to bring it back. I didn't feel like digging through the last few pages to find it so I figured on making a new one!
How are you keeping yourself safe? How are you beating self-harm? From anything. How are you keeping yourself safe from self-harm, flashbacks, or anything else you struggle with.
I visited a family member today and spent time with my pets. Now I'm on the site.
Your turn!

Happy to see this thread return!
The other day I read a few chapters in a book instead...Still have to finish it!

I’m glad this thread is back Cassie it’s a great idea.
Cutting doesn’t really cross my mind anymore, and if it does I can push it back.
I am a little and have a mama(caregiver) type of thing and if I hit, punch, bite or do any other forum of self-harm I get a punishment so that keeps me from doing it. I also have a teething bracelet that I bite instead of myself.

Glad to see this is back!
When I feel the urge to selfharm, I try to talk to my boyfriend, and he will hug me and be there for me. Other thing I do it distraction! Maybe a game, a bath, or a nap helps me a lot
You guys can always send me a DM, if I can do anything for you.

I decided to play a game on my phone instead of doing the things that would make it easier to self harm.

I've been watching youtube videos, playing games, and today I read a couple of chapters of my book. Basically keeping my mind as occupied as I can for as long as I can.
I'm glad to see this thread back, it's lovely seeing everyone finding ways to be strong.

My cat's favorite toy broke. So I cleaned, dried, re-stuffed, and sewed it for her. Smells like fresh catnip now.

Started some new classes and talked to my therapist. Also reorganizing, I like to do that when I am anxious.

I went to sleep on the early side (9pm) last night even though I had stuff to do. I just had to do something for myself and I will deal with the consequences today (scrambling to get the work done today instead)

When I'm thinking of hurting myself, I like to remind myself how far I've gone already and that I wouldn't like to break my 2-years cycle of being clean.

Whatever the reasons for self-harming, it’s important to know that there is help available if you want to stop. You can learn other ways to cope with everything that’s going on inside without having to hurt yourself.

I've been spending time with my animals. It's hard to harm yourself when you have a cat sitting on your lap!
