Invitation to participate in research
I am a post-graduate student at the University of Edinburgh, and as part of my masters I am doing research on young women and self-harm. In the past, I have worked closely with young women who self-harm, and I felt I lacked a complete understanding about what young women want in terms of support.
This research is focused solely on the voice of young women. Through my research I want to identify the type of support young women want for their self-harm. I hope this will contribute to our understanding of the ways in which support networks can work with young women through their self-harm journeys.
I am asking young women ages 14 to 25 to complete this questionnaire. The questionnaire should take approximately 20 minutes to finish.
As this questionnaire is posted to a self-harm support forum and your name is not asked, answers provided will be anonymous. Your participation is entirely voluntary and you may opt out of answering specific questions and/or withdraw from participation at any point in the questionnaire.
Trigger warning: This questionnaire does ask questions about your own self-harm experiences.
If you would like to take part in my research, please give your consent and choose the ACCEPT button at the beginning of the questionnaire. If you would not like to take part in my research, please choose the DECLINE button at the beginning of the questionnaire.

8!n4ry8unny, maybe you should encourage her to do another study that focuses on young men! =)
Lynsey Dimock, thank you for your interest in this population! We have a lot of young women within this community who struggle with self-harm, and I'm sure they'll be happy to enlighten you on what has (and hasn't) helped them in their journeys toward recovery.

Well, during the survey you're asked for your gender so you can take it if you want to.
I just completed it.
