Self Harm If you or someone you know is struggling with self harm and needs advice or alternatives, we're here to help.
I've been self harming for the past 4 months now i've been feeling better but.. i'm going to mexico in about 2 weeks and i need something else that could help me cope with everything i need some time too but any ideas out there please .
Anything on the alternatives sticky? A book or two? A friend you can text? Any hobby you enjoy?
I'm glad you're beating it. Keep going. You can do it! Don't let Mexico stop ya!
God bless.

I suggest since you're going somewhere, to not even bring any tools with you - not that you could, since airline security and stuff but I know people get creative with that kind of thing. So if I were you, I wouldn't even try it. Next, stay away from stores that could sell anything that you could use as a tool. Is there anything from home that you find comforting to look at? I so, try to bring that with you so you have a piece from home.

I agree with Cassie. Oh and maybe it'd help if you brought something to do in Mexico. Hopefully Mexico itself will distract you from everything and help you have a little fun, but some books, games, music, any hobbies you do could help you while you're there.
If you get urges, check out the Self-Harm Alternatives list. You could also make a Calm Down Jar and take it with you to Mexico or make it there. Lastly, I hope you have a great time at Mexico. Sounds exciting to be able to travel.
Firstly, I'm jealous, I want to go to Mexico too! I'm sure you'll have lots of fun there.
Secondly, yep, find an alternative. There's the Alternatives sticky thread at the top of the Self Harm forum like other people have mentioned, or you can bring something with you, like a book, a game, an iPod/MP3 player, anything! I find talking to someone about anything (especially something positive ) is a good way of getting urges to go away, so you could text a friend or chat to someone online if you wanted to.
