Helping with girlfriends depression

I'm 17 and my girlfriend is 16. I absolutley love her. She has depression not severely though, which she takes medication for.

Basically every night is a routine. She's in hard classes at school so she always has homework.nso basically every night she comes home and is upset and i usually talk to her and cheer her up.

She's on her period lately and she's been arguing a lot, and being a lot more depressed than usual, but i understand why. And i stick by her and always try to cheer her up.

I guess i dont know what I'm asking, it's just been really hard because i love her, but I'm willing to stick by her and make it work. I guess i just need advice on what i could do to make her in a good mood more often?

I feel like me and her havent been getting along as much lately because she argues a lot. And she always apologizes. But I'm still going to stick by her. I just need advice.

As someone who deals with depression on a daily basis, as well, there isn't much you can do to "cheer her up". It's all on her. Being there for her, making sure she has a shoulder to cry on when needed, an ear that will listen when needed, is basically all you can do. In order to work through depression, she has to WANT to get better. With medication, that will help, but she has to have the mindset to battle the disease. It's not easy.

It's great that you're willing to work with her through this. Not many people would have the strength to do so. You're very brave.

Best of luck!
