Why are there so many subjects? Why can't someone tell me what to do?

Ugh... Oldness... Decisions... Impossible
Been given the A-Level book, have to decide what to do with life...
How on earth am I meant to decide?
16 subjects to choose from... 4 subjects to do...
Not sure how to choose, don't know what I want to do...
Same grades all round... Hate/Like all subjects the same...
IDIOT!

I wander if I should give up, not do A-Levels, not go to uni and just be a loser.
That would be easy... That would suit me fine. That's perfect.
Not allowed to be a loser and I need to get away from here... That means uni... That means deciding what to do...
I think if I want to make it through life I need to do something cool, something I enjoy... I enjoy nothing and everything at the same time...
IDIOT!

Had my 2nd maths exam today. That went terrible... I think I got about 40 out of 60...
SO much wrong.
Will have to re-take... More exams... Great (!)
Hate being a failure

When it comes to choosing A level courses, do things you think you'll enjoy. I chose Psychology because I knew I was interested in it, and I chose media because I knew I'd enjoy it. I chose Sociology because it would link in well with psych, and I don't really enjoy it. The others I love. Choose things that are of interest to you - things you can see yourself wanting to do in a years time. That's the key - don't do something because you have to, unless it's going to be something you like. There are a lot of choices, but if you go to open evenings, talk to subject teachers and past students, you should be able to narrow down your options.

Oh, and 40/60 isn't too bad! You could have done much worse. From where I'm sitting, that's pretty damn good! Yeah, you got some wrong, but we all do. Mistakes only make room for improvement, which in the long run is what we need. My head of sixth form read something to my year group a few months back basically saying that in order to succeed in something, you HAVE to experience failure. By passing everything you leave no room for improvement and advice. By failing, you leave spaces for people to guide you in the future, and it gives you a motive to get better. Don't look at failing as a bad thing, look at it as a chance to learn from mistakes and do better next time. You can't be perfect at everything, and making mistakes and failing, does not make you a failure. It makes you - believe it or not - a human being.

Keep your chin up, lovely. <3
