So most of this is coming off the commentary as sadly, I couldn’t get to the match at Stevenage in which only 700 fans made. Due to the online radio going faulty I missed the first 12 minutes of play, but I got the gist of what happened.

The volume at Broadhall Way was immense; all the fans were excited at the prospect of staying in the carling cup and the possibility of playing great teams like Manchester United and Arsenal.
Peterborough United the better team dominated at the start, keeping the ball around the penalty box and shooting when possible, George Boyd and Tommy Rowe, trying to keep Stevenage Borough on their toes. By the look of the game it should be an easy win!

David Ball makes a break with the ball given to him from a corner, a great scorer, scored on Saturday against Crystal Palace and scores most games he’s played. AND IT’S IN! DAVID BALL AT 16 MINUTES SCORES!

Posh beating up any dribbling from Stevenage, although the keeper Alan Julian is good, he’s no matching for the team called Peterborough. Boyd is fouled, a free kick is given to Peterborough United, to left of the penalty box, no Grant McCann to score, who will take his replacement? Ah it’s Frecklington to hammer the kick, a good curve but saved by a defender, but it’s given to George Boyd, then too Frecklington, is he having another try? No, Wilson of Stevenage sends it out of play.

Basey - left footed - chips the ball over the top of the goal from a free kick, another chance that McCann would have taken; it seems the team are missing their captain.
The ball is staying at Posh’s end, a good sign. Let’s just hope we can keep this lead unlike Crystal Palace did last Saturday. Posh are in control, and working in unison, I’m very happy about Frecklington’s play today, especially with his bad left ankle!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Stevenage score, Wilson down the right and Long scored to the left of Paul Jones! 32 minutes and all squared! What a shame I mean this could be a repeat of Saturday only not the way we want.
Looking at scores many teams who should win are not, a very bad sign! Hopefully Peterborough fans will get on side of the team and they’ll come back. Stevenage hardly getting the ball but then scoring L we need to watch our backs!

That was a surprise, a good move by the boys taking time, getting their game together and recovering, we have had good possession. Still cheering heavy, we support the borough.
Boyd on left, straight into keeper, missed a great chance there, clean through! Boyd should have scored; he’s not doing too well today.

Posh has corner, can Basey turn it out from long? No, it wasn’t saveable. Zak has some heavy defending today, but he’s pro and did well. Paul Jones saves a measly attempt from Stevenage. Posh still slow, waiting until scoring at their end, the crowd always draws the ball like a magnet!

Stevenage thick on attack, but the ball was taken away after a wrong decision from the striker. Ball has made a break through the middle, needing support from his teammates; Rowe loses position, and Stevenage takes possession of the ball. Gabriel ‘Zak’ Zakuani nods it away, and the ball is sent back up to Posh’s side.

Freklington got fouled, a free kick to United. The supporters shouting Wanka, a booking needed and given to the Stevenage player! Yellow Card given and happy to get it, knowing he did wrong.
Corner to Posh in added time, where goal was scored last time, high and long, Bennet meets it but not enough time!

Half Time: 1-1

And off again...
Wilson of Stevenage has been having a good game, close to scoring more than once and it’s just happened again! Stevenage is upping their game already, early days but Posh seem to be a bit of a mess! Peterborough being patient, keeping their cool, something Darren Ferguson has taught and a successful skill. Tommy Rowe was driven out wide giving a throw in for Stevenage.

Posh fans staying faithful with the great escape, always keep the game going strong. I can’t help but wonder how much better this game would have gone with McCann to have scored more than once. Oh and how great it would have been if our lean mean goal scoring machine Craig Mackail-Smith hadn’t been signed.

Jones doing well to prevent a corner, in yellow today, a very good goal keeper, catching the ball in his finger-tips, on loan last year from Exeter, now ours J

In our lucky away kit, the same kit we won promotion wearing! You would think this would be a good emblem against the home team. Disruption is on the pitch from a thought foul but nothing seen by the referee, a throw from Posh to continue play, this will have added quite some extra time, something the Posh team will not be wanting.

Little’s running, Boyd, Tomlin flicks and a hand ball was seen by everyone but the referee. A patient build up and BALL SCORES BALL IS A GREAT PLAYER (former man city) and posh go ahead on 65 minutes, a well drilled in shot to the keeper’s right, and the fans cheering go wild! Really excited at the prospect of staying in the carling cup! We needed that, but Posh always manage to score the end of their fans! The fans are loud today, singing a variety of chants!

Boyd throws for Peterborough (captain in the absence of Grant McCann who is playing internationally for Ireland) takes instead of the normal Mark little, Tommy Rowe tries but Tomlin didn’t pass perfectly for the young player.

Goes very quiet but then a storm from Stevenage and they score!!! Bostwick scored after 80 minutes of play. The home side steaming as much as they can pressure the away team and almost scoring again!

A corner is given to Posh on the left, with 5 minutes left and the score all square. Near the post but no one got a touch, a goal was waiting to happen but couldn’t be found! Long taking the ball, but Paul Jones found it and gave it to Little and then to Bennett, Zak has it as we head into the final minute of the 90, Posh keep possession, Tomlin and Boyd, but it’s way out. 4 minutes added time before the 30 minute extra; a result has to be seen today. Posh throw in and hopefully Posh will score!

This is anyone’s game in added time, I think that extra time is unavoidable.
Free Kick after Frekington was fouled, last opportunity here. Tomlin took it but it was too far out to shoot. Tomlin takes to the penalty area, keeping on pressure!

Full Time: 2-2, extra time and then Penalties if no winner.

And we’re off again, nobody wants this to go to penalties and Posh are cheering loudly, they want Posh to win with all their hearts. Wilson of Stevenage runs down but is blocked from the men in black. Posh playing quickly, wanting to score score score.

Peterborough get a free kick, near the penalty box, pushing for an early break through. The same chant over and over, desperation heard in the strained voices. Posh lead 3-2, from the free kick, a real stunner on his return to the stadium, George Boyd, used to play for Stevenage, over 4 years and over 100 caps for them!

And the fans go wild! Hoping to keep this lead, 2 minutes into the extra time, they must hold on!
Wilson almost scored, Basey and Zak working together to keep it away, the crowd singing for Zak. Ball and Freklington and Boyd running to the goal but couldn’t find each other for an even bigger lead. Only 5 minutes into extra time, it’s a long time to hang on, Posh need another goal to release pressure.
Tommy Rowe fluffed out; I really want him to score, one of my favourite players. He still has opportunity though; a bit of inspiration is all he needs. This is going slow, from the early goal, 4 minutes left of this half, we have to get even more goals, posh have a chance, Freklington, Boyd but defender gets it.
3 minutes, we need to hang on a bit longer. Basey is off in replace of Alcock who’s only a teen, a good move, Basey losing his touch, tired.
Tomlin running on the left, crosses but blocked, another chance, gives to Freklington on the right, Little giving an overlap, right side of penalty area, to Freklington, to Boyd on the left and a spectacular effort, the keeper diving full length to keep the goal clean.
1 min and a Posh corner, taken by number 23, Lee Freklington, Tomlin goes short and chips to Alcock, drills to Tomlin crosses to far post and out of play for a posh throw in, taking their time. A great shot by Boyd in that dense moment of play.

Half Time of Extra: 3-2 Peterborough United

Starting with posh, taking their time passing between each other, staying slow and calm, in their scoring half, a great tactic no doubt Darren Ferguson came up with which works for the team. Long is going off for Stevenage, the first scorer, I only wish Wilson would go; he’s really piling on the pressure.

7 minutes for Posh to keep it up, Stevenage upping their game, this is a close match.
A very long throw in from Stevenage, and posh belt it to award them a corner.
6 minutes left
Corner to Stevenage
And it goes in!!!!!!!! They’ve pulled it level at 3-3!!!!!!!!! Stevenage celebrating loudly, with on 5 minutes left, Posh have to pull something out of the bag here! Remembering Stevenage has a lot of momentum. Posh 3 times ahead, 3 times been equalized. It’s become very loud, very loud indeed, both teams desperate to win, both supporters cheering.
A corner to posh, a massive scramble and the keeper makes an excellent save. Posh throwing in and Tommy Rowe scores!!! BUT he was offside and so was Gabby Zak!!!! A free kick to Stevenage!!!! This is very tense and very messy, everyone encouraging their sides.
3 minutes left
Both teams scrambling, just pure desperation spurring them on, with Stevenage, a shot deflected away and a goal kick.
2 minutes left
Free Kick on half way to Posh, Boyd receiving the Ball, to Freklington, to Tomlin, the ball pushes through and it’s a penalty for posh in the final minute, Boyd being flattened by eager Stevenage!
This is their last chance! If they score they win if they don’t its penalties.
Lee Tomlin is taking for Posh, every single fan can be heard chanting for the man.
The whistle blows and he scores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POSH WIN IN THE MOST DRAMATIC OF CIRCUMSTANCES, 3 times posh led 3 times Stevenage equal, 120 seconds left with an added 2 minutes of play, surely they can hold on. The borough fans go wild

Stevenage could pull one back, Ball goes off, and the whistle blows. Last couple of minutes, come on posh! Stevenage are in a hurry, throwing in but Freklington storms in and wins it but then everything is going wild. The posh supporters are singing their team to round 2 in a jubilant mood. With only seconds left, 4-3 to Posh, Peterborough have a corner, Taylor (Balls sub) winning it.
The final whistle blows! POSH WIN!!!!!!!! A cracking match, at first posh on top but only 1 goal which got cancelled, an evenly played game despite 2 leagues difference! The Peterborough fans happy, we go into round 2; hopefully this match will be less stressful.

Full Time: 4-3 Peterborough United

OMG lol the A1 north road home is closed... That would be interesting!
