Happy holidays from TeenHelp!

Hey everyone,

From all of us at TeenHelp we hope you have fantastic holidays!

CanadaCraig's Christmas Message 2010

MERRY CHRISTMAS

As the year comes to a close it's important to look BACK - and see for ourselves how well we have done. Have we managed to become better human beings? Are we more compassionate - more caring - more thoughtful - TODAY - than we were a year ago? Is our heart still made of flesh OR has it become hard as it slowly turns to stone?

We have to be mindful of these things. It often hurts to be human. And because of that hurt - many of us TUNE OUT in an attempt to protect ourselves. We become distant and removed [emotionally] from the world around us. But by doing that - we become hard and cold. We stop caring. And that is the saddest thing of all.

Many of us have plenty of reasons for not caring. But none of those reasons are an excuse. If you have been hurt by someone - and vowed never to be quite that sensitive ever again - then you have become like the one who hurt you. You have become someone who doesn't CARE. [At least not as much as you could care - and should care.] YOU must rise above that. You must accept that hurt and OWN IT. For it's only when you OWN THE HURT that you have any power over it. If you keep running from 'IT' - if you keep hiding in the dark hoping that 'IT' won't see you - then 'IT' will always have power over you. And this is true for any negative thought or feeling that we are afraid of. Whenever we run-away from our thoughts OR feelings - it gives those thoughts and feelings more power.

FIND THE COURAGE THIS CHRISTMAS TO BE...
THE MASTER OF YOUR DOMAIN
THE MASTER OF YOUR THOUGHTS
THE MASTER OF YOUR FEELINGS.

STOP RUNNING!

And focus on the fact that.....

Christmas is the time to appreciate that we are human. It's a time when it is especially OK to be generous and kind and loving - even to people we have never met before. For it is that kindness - that LOVE - that is the true spirit of Christmas. Christmas can not be found at a shopping mall. It is not 'for sale' at Walmart. [Or any other store.] Christmas is found on your face. Christmas is found in your words. Christmas is found in your heart. Are you smiling at someone that most people would ignore? Are you saying something supportive and kind to someone who probably rarely ever hears such words? Are you seeking out ways to help those in need? And I don't just mean to those who are obviously down on their luck. Many people LOOK fine on the outside - but their hearts are broken.

Never assume WHO needs to see your SMILE.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

AND if 'Christmas' isn't your 'thing' - I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

GREAT BIG HUG
Craig

Taking Control Of Your Life Resource Pack
By Rob and Steph

Craig raises some really interesting points about how to improve your life this year, and we wanted to give you the best chance of making that happen, so we have put together a resource pack containing an article, activity sheets and a step-by-step guide to taking control of your life and making your goals - whatever they may be - happen.

This pack includes:
  • 1 - Taking Control Of Your Life - This article covers some of the key issues to consider when planning how to change your life.
  • 2 - Six Steps For Success - This guide provides six steps on six days starting tomorrow and leading up to the New Year, so be sure to check it out as soon as possible to get your resolution planning underway!
  • 3 - Action plan - This sheet provides space for you to write about your goals and what you will do to make them happen.
  • 4 - Action plan help - Fairly self explanatory, this document just gives you some tips for using your actions plans effectively!

Christmas Chat Discussions

However, before you get down to the gruelling hard work, we have a treat for you! Achieving your goals is more than just boring planning, it's about enjoying yourself and being able to keep your motivation high - and smiling [as Craig said] - therefore we have planned several novelty FCRDs this Boxing Day (December 26th) that we hope will be fun for you, but will also help you see how to effectively plan and obtain your goals - using ridiculous comedic examples as a starting point! We will hold three discussions:

Sunday December 26th 2010
8pm-8:20pm GMT/UTC (UK time) - Dealing with troublesome elves
10pm-10:20pm GMT/UTC (UK time) - Keeping reindeers out of the pantry
12midnight-12:20am GMT/UTC (UK time) - Being good: Making if off the naughty list

[This is provisional - Times and topics may change slightly. And yes, we realise this is past Christmas, but us TeenHelp 'elves' are having a day off!]

I hope everybody is having a fantastic time and enjoying their holidays!
