Hi

I have recently sprained both of my ankles and this means that I cant do sports and I have to just sit and watch. Doing this means I think a lot about my past and that is not helping my recovery. Any ideas on how to avoid this with out to many people seeing you are doing it, i.e nitting would not work because other people can see what I am doing.

Ouch! I am so sorry that you sprained both of your ankles, that sounds so painful. I hope they heal soon!
May I ask why you don't want others to see? You can tell them that it is a way for you to pass time since you can't actually play, rather than telling them it is a way to distract yourself.
Maybe you can get a small fidget toy, because this can fit into your hands?Posted June 18th 2017 at 10:37 PM by ¯|_(ツ)_|¯ -
Hi, that must be dreadful especially if you are an avid sports fan.
I agree a fidget toy may help, although (here in the US), some schools are banning them for various (to me nonsensical) reasons.
Maybe you can knit? Ask th coach/teacher ahead of time; knitting is movement and better than no movement. Plus, you can make beautiful things. It also may help to focus on that rather than remembering your past.
If allowed, you could draw, read, do stretches or exercises that are upper body intensive (so you do not put stress on your ankles).
Hope that heps and feel free to message me if you need anything or want a friend. :-)Posted June 19th 2017 at 04:42 AM by Philomath -
