Drawbacks of the Library

I've decided to do this blog in green, in honor of my newly colored name So far, I dig the green team.
I go to the library fairly often, either in search of something new to read or to go hunting through the CD racks to keep my itunes funky fresh. Whatever the reason, I'm there quite a bit.
But there's some things I don't like about the library.
1. The silence. Don't get me wrong, I like being in a place where I can hear my own thoughts and be able to do my work in peace. But since I have bad luck when it comes to such things, my cell phone always has to go off whenever I'm in there. So I either a) Ignore the caller and feel guilty for doing so. or 2) Answer it and try to communicate by whispering and failing miserably. Either way isn't a good situation.
2. The Drop Off Box. You know, those slots that have labels on them ("Books", "CDs" etc) and you're meant to drop the returning item into the appropriate slot and watch it disappear into wherever the hell it goes? (who knows where they end up when you drop them in). Yeah, you know. Well, I hate those slots. Every time I return a CD I try to drop it in nice and slow, but no matter how gently I place it in I always hear the CRASH of it landing into the bottom of "wherever the hell it goes". It's like their counting on you to break their property so they can fine you. :meh: Oh, and the books! I'm always afraid that during it's long fall into "wherever the hell it goes", the little note that I leave in every book I read will fall out and never be read by its next reader. Sad =/
3. Books On Display. The other day I was hunting for 15 minutes trying to find a specific book. The catalouge said it wasn't checked out, but it was nowhere to be found. Right when I was about to give up, I spoted it on the top of the shelf, placed on its own little stand, surrounded by other books on their stands, creating a nice display. I didn't know whether or not I was allowed to take it. After a few minutes of pondering the principles of ruining the display, I grabbed the book, self checked out, and quickly left the building..leaving a big empty space on the shelf.
So those are the three things I dislike about the library. Although I gotta say, that last one did make me feel a little dangerous

I know how that feels, but I used to volunteer at the library and trust me, those are little things that they don't care about. So, don't worry about that.

love the colour of your font, the green team is the best team
I hate the drop off boxes.
I always take it to the desk. Last time I put some books in the box the day before they were due back and no one emptied the box for a week and I got fined, my Mum rang up and argued with them and got it dropped
(I love that you put notes in the books, I do that too with certain books. I thought I was a bit crazy for doing that )Posted August 2nd 2009 at 05:16 PM by Melody Pond -

Ahh the library. I always loved going there. I wish I could go there more now, but just never have the time.
I always wondered where the books and stuff went too. haha. Like, book heaven? Cd heaven? Until they're back out again.
Also, when you said you took the book and left, I nearly laughed my ass off, because I can picture you doing it, and I do it too.Posted September 1st 2009 at 07:55 PM by Hollifire
