I've been getting into these "zombie" like states more and more often at school. Almost everyday I doze off in my classes or I'll stare off into nothing for the entire period. It's so hard for me to focus on school these days, especially with graduation right around the corner. The things they're teaching are either things I already know or just seem so irrelevant. (Who really needs to know what the square root of pi is?) Most of the time I'll just put my head down and let my mind wander until the bell rings. When I'm in my dreamland, time passes so much quicker. In fact in my world, time doesn't evenexist. Everything just...continues.

The way I see my mind is this. When I'm consciously thinking in my head, it's like my mind's eyes are open and it's drawing out my thoughts, pen in hand. I know what's going on and I'm aware of what's happening around me. Although I don't know exactly where my thoughts are headed, I have a pretty damn good idea.

On the contrary, when I close my eyes and get into my "dreamlike-zombie" state, (or when I'm dreaming) it's like my mind's eyes have literally closed as well. I'm blind as to where my thoughts are going, like I'm letting some other force take a hold of the pen. I suppose that "force" could be considered my imagination. Maybe when they say "I'm drawing a blank", they're really saying they've lost their creativity.
