So I've decided to start blogging. I've never done it before, and I have no idea as to what kind of an audience will even read it, but I thought I would give it a go. I'm tired of complaining to everyone, especially my friends, so I figure I could complain to myself, and if anybody cares to read well then that's on them.

Last Friday, (2 days ago), I went with some boy scouts to do a service project up a lake/campsite area where we planted trees and such. While we were there, my dad reached down to pull a weed and a rattle snake decided it was time for lunch. He sunk all four fangs into his finger, without any warning. Luckily we were right next to a rangers station, and he got was cared for in a matter of minutes. After just half an hour, he was airlifted to the hospital / ER / ICU / whatever...one of those scary sounding collection of letters you typically hear in movies.

I didn't get to see him for the rest of the day, but on Saturday (yesterday) me and my sister went to visit him in the hospital. He was sitting there in clothes that weren't his and laying in an unfamiliar bed. His arm was three times its normal size and hard as a rock, with his hand looking like a blown up latex glove. He looked so vulnerable. Which is something I thought I would never get see as my dad is never one to show any sign of weakness or doubt. (He passed that trait unto me.) My dad is also not usually one to be emotional or show much affection, which is why it was very odd when he said "I love you" right before I shut the door. I said "I love you too", which just added to strangeness of the situation. (Again, he passed his "unwillingness to show affection" unto me)

We found out today that he has to stay yet another night in that 10x5 room. I'm sure he will just fine, my dad is a fighter. But what worries me is my mom. She gets wrinkles when I come home 5 minutes late without calling. I can tell she's really stressing out, and this morning she told me she hasn't had much of an appetite since it happened. I guess I'm not too worried about it, but it's just different to see my parents this way.

Well if you've read this far, then thanks for listening to my mindless ranting. Stay tuned for more updates

You haven't "mindlessly' ranted. These are your thoughts and feelings. So it is okay to have a rant.

Hope your dad gets better soon.
