I'm sorry mom, I can't help it. I'm sorry i'm not as clever as you want me to be and i'm sorry that i'm letting you down.
You don't know how much i want to make you proud but you're never pleased with anything i do. He just gets in the way, he's ten and your amazing child, i'm sorry i'm not as amazing as him. I'm an idiot.

You are not an idiot, and I mean that. You're one clever girl, Charli. You go and you make YOURSELF proud. Do what makes you happy and do it well. If your mum doesn't like it, at least you can say you've done the best you can do and gotten the places you wanted to go. Go out there and get what you want, forget being held back by what you think your mum will be proud of. We all want to make people proud of us, but you are trying your best and hardest and you can't do any more than that. So stop comparing yourself to others. You'll find that if you do that you'll always look bad in some way or another. Fact is, you're not them, You never will be. You're you and that's all. But being you is just as amazing, and you can get places. So forget it. Go and do your thing like I know you can. If she's not proud of you, I sure will be.
