Dealing with the pressures of home

Posted September 21st 2015 at 10:05 AM by David Armes

Home life can be challenging at times because of all the changes that will need to be made to help you make yourself better. However people at home may not be as accepting to the changes as you are so it is important that you can respect.

Don’t be surprised of you find that people do get a bit moody towards you for a while. This is perfectly normal as it can be hard for people to accept the changes that you are going to have to make. The best piece of advice that I can give on the...

Keeping friendships alive

Posted September 21st 2015 at 09:52 AM by David Armes

Friendships are one of the most important things for someone to have when they are mentally ill. It is so important to have someone out there that you can have a chat with when you are feeling a bit down and it is nice to have company should you need it.

However sometimes the strain of the work you put on them can take its toll on the friend and you need to understand that they may need some time away from the strain of everyday life whilst keeping friendships healthy.

Circle of death

Posted September 20th 2015 at 08:28 AM by David Armes

The circle of death is something that my councillor told me about a few weeks ago. In its most simple terms it is a circle that is split into 3 sections that I will explain.

The first is soul. This is YOUR soul and your mind. If you get depressed over the death of a loved one then this is the section that you will fall into. When they refer to the soul they are talking about how your mind copes, the types or emotion that you show and your will to go out and do things. This is mental...

I can't control it

Posted September 17th 2015 at 01:00 PM by Riddikulus

I feel like I'm slowly getting worse and worse, the urges to hurt myself are getting stronger and I'm really struggling to control them. I can't go near a bridge or anything at the moment without thoughts going through my head. I don't know what to do anymore.

Failing attempt at recovery

Posted September 15th 2015 at 10:17 PM by Riddikulus

So I'm two months drug free and a month Self Harm free and for a while I thought I was progressing well. Suddenly I feel like I'm going completely back downhill, I don't have any friends to talk to, no one is willing to listen, it's like no one cares. I have no community support anymore and I'm doing this completely alone.

I've started writing up plans again and notes and I can't handle my thoughts anymore. All I want to do right now is hurt myself...

No Cyberbullying!

Posted September 14th 2015 at 10:51 AM by Rachel89 (No cyberbullying!)

Did you know that by now more than 50% of kids have experienced cyberbullying and more than 35% admit to be bullies’ targets? This is quite shocking statistics that we can ignore no longer.

Cyberbullying is not much different from traditional bullying. Only instead of being bitten up at school, kids are being bitten up by dozens and hundreds of users online. While you may think that cyberbullying cannot be taken into account as a serious problem, keep in mind that online bullying...

How to cope

Posted September 14th 2015 at 09:50 AM by David Armes

Coping with something like this can be one of the toughest questions you may ask yourself. It can often be quite daunting when you realise that this is reality and you have to get over this but with some easy steps it can work.

Resting is one of the most important things anyone can do during this time. Nobody is going to think that you are stupid because of it and if you need to rest a lot then that can happen. Most people won’t mind even seeing you in bed if you are down because...

It is ok to cry

Posted September 14th 2015 at 09:40 AM by David Armes

One of the hardest things I for one found is crying. I just simply did not want to do it.

I felt really low for a while because I had built my emotions up which one of my friends thought was stupid. He suggested crying as a technique which does work. I would suggest that if you decide to go on with this method to do it in private maybe at night. It will make you feel better in the long run.

Crying helps to express emotions out and helps to clear the mind. However daunting...
