Good week!

Soooo I got the job!
I start on October 1st, they just need references. One of them was a family friend I've known my entire life and have worked for on a voluntary basis so mum and I helped with hers this morning. She knows me well but she's not involved in every aspect of my life so we told her what I do in terms of volunteering that would be beneficial for this job and she basically sang my praises. Words like "well mannered" and "pleasant disposition" were used. It was all very strange. But that was posted off today so they just need one from my manager.
I'm going to Matalan to hand in my notice today. My resignation is effective from two weeks today, the 26th. It'll be such a relief to be out of that and get into a schedule.
Up at half six, leave at seven, start at half eight, lunch about midday, finish at half four, study until my dad finishes around five, home at half six, let Alfonso out for ten minutes for a cuddle, have dinner, shower, study for an hour, let Alfonso out for some exercise, chill, bed, repeat.
I can't wait! Right now my week is so messy. Get up whenever, eat when I get hungry. Spend most of my time with my laptop and shit daytime television.
The websites for my modules don't open until next week so I haven't even been able to start looking at what I need to do this year and planning out how much time to set aside each week and when will be the best time to do everything.
I'll get time off over Christmas and new year and I'll also have 9 days annual leave to take before March. My first two assignments are due on November 20th so I'm thinking about taking a long weekend before that to just blast them both.
My book for Sport and Exercise Psychology came yesterday. It looks pretty horrific if I'm honest. The book is huge, it comes with a study guide and DVD, and I don't have much interest in it. I just didn't really have a choice. It might prove to be interesting though.
Meanwhile Alfonso is doing great! He's so tame considering he's probably not been handled much before I got him. He's only bitten me once and that was because he was trying to bite my ring, I felt it, and instinctively moved my hand, and he got my finger instead.
He's nibbled my finger a couple of times to test if it was food, and he did bite my boob when he thought the picture on my tshirt was food. Thank God I was wearing a bra!
He's beautiful and fluffy and I love him. My dad keeps telling me how cute he is and goes over to say hello when he gets in from work, my mum adores him and takes every chance to stroke and cuddle him when he's out, my brother thinks he's awesome and was really excited to see him in his ball. My aunt also can't wait to meet him so hopefully he makes a good impression and she'll be okay to look after him for me when we go on holiday next summer.
I can't wait to buy him some Christmas presents and put them in a wee stocking for him. I'm hoping I can get a santa hat for him, simply so I can get ONE photo. I generally disagree with dressing animals up, but I'd make an exception simply because I wouldn't force it on him, I wouldn't stop him taking it off, and it'd only be while I took a photo. He can tear it up for bedding afterwards if he wants.
He keeps climbing on his water bottle, though. I heard a thump last night and looked up to see the water bottle on the floor of the cage, and him sitting in the bracket that holds the bottle, looking very confused. He doesn't understand that he's too heavy for it so the more he climbs on it, the further down it slips, and eventually it'll fall. He alternates between that and holding on to the edge of his cage while sitting back on the outside of his wheel. It's pretty cute but he hasn't managed to use the wheel properly yet. I got him hamster chocolate drops and he LOVES them. Every other food I've tried him with he'll either eat it, stuff it, take it and leave it somewhere, or ignore it. The drops he takes off me and eats every single time. I think he's a little grumpy that he can't have more than a couple each day though. He gives me the same look as he does when I put him back in his cage. It's so cute but so sad.
I'm expecting a call from Pets at Home today or tomorrow since they said they'd phone in a few days just to see how I'm getting on with him and if there are any problems.
My only problem is the fact they sold me an unsuitable cage and assured me it'd be perfect and I wouldn't have to get another one as he got bigger. That was a lie. The cage is far too small for him to get any kind of run about if he gets bored, there isn't enough space for me to put in any toys or anything for him. Not to mention the inconvenience of the door being on the top.
I'm getting a new one when my first pay comes through.
I'm working at the bar tonight so I'm going to let him run around in his ball for a while before I go and he's going to stay in the living room with my parents so he has some company until I get home between midnight and 1am. He's going to be one spoiled hamster but he'll never be short on love. Everyone adores him.
I think this is me for life. It's only been three days and already I can't imagine not having him about. I'm thinking about maybe a guinea pig at some point now, and my brother wants a degu.
This week has been pretty good. I'm choosing to only focus on the positives.
Although if anyone wants to do the sports psych module for me, please feel free!
