HAPPY SNOWMAN!
The Isle of Man is as beautiful as I remember. We finally got here about 6pm on Friday after leaving the house at 10am. Drove for nearly three hours to Heysham for the boat and then the boat was three and a half hours. It was cool, I've never been on a ferry before so I wasn't sure what to expect. But there was a cafe, a bar that also did Starbucks, and if you went outside onto the deck you could go right up to the very highest point of the ship. It was windy but it was still pretty cool.
We're in the same part of the hotel as last year. They offered us a deal last year that it'd be cheaper for us to take a two bedroom apartment than to pay for two rooms, and they even threw in breakfast, so we did the same again this year. Mum and dad have been friends with the family who run the hotel for over 20 years.
On Saturday we went up to this place called Mooragh Park. It's a big lake you can hire boats out on. But you can walk around it it too, so all around it at random intervals is this outdoor exercise equipment. Rowing machine and devices to lift your own weight and stuff. It'd be a good workout to jog round the lake and stop to do each one on the way. At the far end there's a really good kid's park, at the other end is a cafe, and down one side there is bowls, crazy golf, and putting. So we did the golf and putting and took a pedalo out onto the lake for half an hour. Then it was lunch, quick stop for the most amazing ice cream in the world (the Manx Creamery is famous for a reason) and then into this shop where both walls going up to the back of the shop are FULL of pic n mix. The shop IS a pic n mix. They also have Mountain Dew for £1. it's £1.60 back home so I'll be taking full advantage of that.
Today I went with my parents right up to... something Ness xD It's right at the corner of the island and there's a fort with 8 cannons sticking out of holes in the wall. It was built in 1540 to protect Castle Rushen (where royalty was) from Oliver Cromwell. There's also a 900 year old church which, aside from not having a roof for 300 years, is still standing and looking pretty good. xD We're getting a little bit of the remnants of Hurricane Bertha so it's been really windy and pretty wet today. After dinner we're just going to sit and chill and read the papers and do our own thing inside where it's warm and dry.
So far it's amazing and honestly, I would be so happy to live here. It's beautiful and the view from any part of the island is stunning. I love it!
Also, my dad got me a present:
OLAF! I'm so happy.
