So first things first: I can't actually feel my fingers right now.
On Monday night around 11/12 I decided to try knitting again. Every time I try I get it wrong and my stitches are so tight I can't move them along the needle. Cue throwing needles to the ground and sulking. So I was sitting on my bed, watching Broadchurch, giving it another go, when I looked at what I was doing and thought "Hang on, maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. If I loop it round that way it might work."
So I changed the way I was doing it and it worked! I was up until 2am knitting successfully. I spent a few hours overall knitting yesterday, up until half one this time. So my fingers are sore and stiff and numb and texting is a nightmare.
AND I ONLY HAVE LIKE 5 INCHES OF SCARF!
Tomorrow is my mum's birthday! So since her sister is dropping her gift by tonight and is bringing a cake and helium balloon, I've put up all the banners and balloons and bunting early.
Tomorrow morning mum is using a voucher she got to get her hair done at this really posh place in Glasgow and then she's having lunch and going shopping. Meaning I have maybe 3-4 hours to make her birthday cake. This was planned and I had all the ingredients bought before her sister said she was bringing one tonight.
It's a special birthday so I've spent a small fortune on a tshirt for her that says "My other grandfather..." (see here!) and I also got her the new Bridget Jones book. I know she'll love both of these things! On Friday we're off on holiday to Whinfell Forest for the weekend so that will be amazing too. I'm really excited about it!
My boss actually had me in for Friday. So I went in with my holiday form with the dates on it and explain I had a holiday from Thursday to Tuesday because we were celebrating my mum's birthday. Her exact words were "Aww it's just a wee boob, sorry about that. That's fine, love, I'll sort that for you."
Have you any idea how hard it is for an immature person NOT to laugh when their boss says in the most serious tone "it's just a wee boob"?
Boob.
Welllll just found out I'm not seeing Naomi tonight. Not entirely sure why this bothers me since I knew from the start she wouldn't come. I need to stop doing this hope thing. Ah well, I'll see her a week on Monday anyway for our "romantic trip" to Edinburgh. Hopefully.
Oh, doing it again. Whoops!
So now I just need to clear up the living room and light mum's favourite candles, then it's just waiting for my auntie to come over. From here until next week it's all about family. Time with my family to celebrate an important occasion. A weekend of swimming, bowling, eating, laughing, and having fun as a family. I can't wait!

Good luck with the scarf. I guess at the very least you figured out what you were doing wrong!
Happy birthday to your mum! I bet it will be really awesome and she'll love the hard work you put in to everything.
I didn't laugh at the boob thing until I got to "Boob. " Then I'm like snorting.
Sorry that you won't be able to see Naomi tonight but I bet the romantic trip will make up for it!
