Numbers, numbers, numbers.

I've been thinking lately about moving out and never really looked into it. Today I got a great website from a certain LHO who was very helpful. And the people there referred me to another site which was more focussed on my area. Through that I found THIS wonderful page which told me all about living costs. Which is excellent. Since I'm looking for a job, I figured it'd be helpful to have an idea of how much I might need to save and what kind of hours I'd need to work to be able to afford to live independently from my parents.
It looks like it could be up to around £800 per month. Which is roughly £200 per week. If I'm working on a £5 an hour basis, that's going to be 40 hours a week. Just for the essentials. Is that scary or what?
I haven't actually mentioned to my parents yet that I've been looking into this. I told mum a while ago I'd thought about moving out and she basically laughed and said I'd never manage it because of all the bills and stuff. But depending on how little I'm bringing in per year, I could be able to apply for some government benefits to help with some of it. So that'd help.
It also depends on where I am since at this stage I have no idea if I'd be living in Scotland or England. I found a place in an area I know pretty well and I've emailed the letting agent for more information on it (if it has electricity, gas, etc. and how much) so I have an idea of how much it might cost for bills.
It could make some of the hardest things in my life just now so much easier. But it could also make the easy things harder. I guess I just have to find the right balance. Easier said than done but I'm sure I'll manage one way or another.

I think it's really sensible that you have started to do your research rather than just taking the leap without really knowing what you're doing. I really hope that you manage to find what you're looking for and that you manage to achieve everything that you're looking to achieve. You can do it, I know you can! <3
