Whee, I'm gonna make a journal up here!
I'm just a loser.

Yep. According to my boyfriend's sister, we're both just losers with no lives who don't know how to grow up. Why are we losers with no lives? Because we're going to an anime convention together, and apparently anyone who goes to a convention is a loser with no life.
Why does going to a convention to have fun make us losers? We became official boyfriend and girlfriend at last year's convention, so it's already something special for us. The stereotypes about anime conventions are really bad, and she was just going off of every one of them, then claimed she was "just telling the truth." Way back in middle school, I got bullied and beaten up enough for liking anime. I hate hearing a grown woman (she's 22) spouting off that kind of crap to her own brother and his girlfriend. Her words made me extremely angry, but they also reminded me of my past and what I used to go through with the bullying. After a while, it really got to me and I started to cry. Jon later confronted her and told her she'd made me cry, and she didn't even care at all. She just shrugged and said "So what?"
I don't understand how an adult can act like such a hateful child. I'm tired of her saying nasty things about me when I've been nothing but respectful to her. I've done nothing to her to deserve her crap. Once, she even called me a bitch and threatened to punch me in the face. I don't get her problem. I can't stand her anymore. And the worst part? I never go to my mom for help because our views are so different and she just doesn't understand me. But this one time, I tried. And she fucking agreed with Jon's sister. She called us losers with no lives and my mom agreed with her. And then mom said it's our own faults for not having jobs. Easy for her to say, she hasn't had a job in over 30 years. She honestly thinks it's easy to find a job and she puts Jon down for not being able to find one.

And she says you have to grow up? Yet she is acting like a child by saying the things she says? Sounds logical.
I'm sorry that she's acting this way. Some people are just ignorant and don't care how words can affect people. I think you should go to that convention and have a bunch of fun! Because there are going to be a bajillion people there that DO like anime and that aren't going to judge you for liking the same. And there are also a bunch of people who don't like anime (Like myself, never got into that. Tried, though!) that aren't going to judge you. Those are the people you should focus on. You'll have tons of fun. As rude as his sister is, it's about you and Jon. And if you have fun, that's all that counts.
Ooo! Also! I was in Seattle one time and there was obviously an anime convention going on, and I thought they looked rather coolPosted October 15th 2012 at 03:51 PM by Just Peachy. -
