PREFACE:

Sunday, February 07, 2010

I am going to be keeping a journal of my Christian spiritual life and relationship with God. The purpose for this journal is to bring others who may be struggling with their faith to find comfort in the words I bring. The Christian life is definitely one of many struggles. We find ourselves in the midst a gruesome and often morbid battle in which our flesh and our Spirit wage war against one another (Galatians 5:17). Our flesh desires that which is solely based on feelings. Feelings which want satisfaction and comfort. However, the Spiritual life is that which is based on faith. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). The goal however, is to put to death the flesh by mortifying it with our Spirit in order that our life of faith overflows into our feelings. Because of this war our feelings often bring a gloomy and despondent state of doubt and fears that make us unproductive for the Kingdom. My prayer is that this journal will not only eliminate a massive amount of these emotions for myself, but also for another. Even if only one person finds comfort in my words and I do not achieve the goal I have set out for myself, I know that these words and time spent have not been wasted.

I personally am wishing that I could find someone who can understand and empathize where I am coming from. Though I do not know such a person exists. Therefore, I hope this journal brings others with congruent feelings some well-being. I write this with the expectation that one may take something from my thoughts an learn how I overcame them in order to apply them to their life and find contentment with God. Certainly this is life long battle in which only God can complete and most certainly will (Philippians 1:6). I have thought about including prayers at the beginning of each entry, but I wish to keep them between me and the Lord for humility purposes. I do ask that as you read through this that you will prayerfully come to God and ask Him to bless your time while reading my thoughts and that He will remove any untruthfulness of my writings. I don't really know what to title this, but perhaps one will come later down the road... if you have any suggestions let me know. Starting tomorrow I will begin with my salvation testimony, God bless.
