Four years to the day since the start of the Beijing Olympics. I know, I was there. It was awesome, and I'm mildly gutted not to be in London for the London games. I am further gutted that our TV doesn't have reception for the free channel that's playing coverage of the Olympics.
Moved house on the 23rd of July, just got internet and landline connected today. We're still on emergency power, waiting for our GloBug stuff to arrive. GloBug is basically pre-paid power, so we need to make sure we always have some cash handy for that.
It's quite a nice little unit, far nicer on the inside than we thought it would be when we saw the outside - neither of us saw the inside of the unit until we were moving our stuff in, and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a 2 bdrm unit in a block of 3, our unit is the one in the middle. One of the bedrooms is about double the size of the other, we played paper rock scissors for it (best of 3 or 5, I don't remember) and I won! It's crazy, it's the largest bedroom I've ever had all to myself and it fits ALL of my bedroom stuff in it - a chest or drawers, a small chest of drawers, two bedside unit thingies, two bookshelves and two desks. I have a computer desk and a writing/drawing desk, in case you were wondering.
I need to, at some point soon, ring the club and ask Rowena if she thinks it's worth me coming back at all. I am inclined to think not, based on the last year, but we'll see what she says. I know competition season was causing me undue stress but also know I'm mildly addicted to the sport - I just don't seem to be able to break away from it cleanly. It would really help me if she said either nope, don't come back, or just permanently volunteer one day a week.
I had to go to a laundromat to get my washing done. The washing machine we have at the moment doesn't currently have a wastewater pipe, meaning we can't do our washing at home. A couple of hours and $14 later (a bit steep but beggars can't be choosers), it's done, and my upper body is tired from walking it to the laundromat and back. Occupational hazard of having a revoked driver's license
My flatmate's currently in respite so it's been really quiet here, I'm glad the internet's connected now, at least I can play RuneScape and so forth. Hopefully she'll get out soon, she's been there a week tomorrow.
I'm sure I have other things to say but my brain is losing the battle to concentrate. Laters.
