Having just started writing for TeenHelp, I decided that the first thing I was going to write about was my personal experiences with depression. For me, it started back in January shortly after the death of my nan in December, the third death in my family that year. It had a huge effect for me and I felt distraught. With three deaths within five months, it gave me no time to mourn them until after so it was too much for me. That started my mental health illness. It is tough for me including the fact my nan was only sixty-nine. In my head I felt that I could hear spirits talking to me which can feel a bit strange and, as happened to me, I wanted to go and join them. Suicide does feel like the only option at times. Even now I get those feelings.

In my first post I decided that it would be a good idea to offer advice to people going through similar experiences.

The first and my main piece of advice is to have great friends! That helped me a lot. Adam, one of my closest friends, has been there all the way through and has been a big inspiration to me. Others have as well and they all have been extremely useful!

Second is to remember that there are specialists out there though I am going to write another blog about this.

Thirdly and most importantly of all, believe in yourself, nothing should be the end of the world to anyone, especially you.

You do these 3 things, then you will be okay, although it just won’t be overnight…

If you wish to contact me then please just leave a comment and I will get back to you as quickly as I can...
