There is a huge list of people who have had a rough life and often think about suicide. I myself, am not exempt from this list. My circumstances were different, just as everyone's are. I was actually trying to quit smoking by taking a prescription called Chantix. That pill worked for about 2 weeks, until other things in my life came along, which just added to it. I was going through a divorce with my ex-wife, but nothing I could do was good enough to fix our marriage. This (along with the prescription) put my brain into suicide mode. I feared for my safety so I admitted myself into the physiatric ward at the local hospital.

Once I was inside, I had nothing to do but think. I seen people with REAL mental disabilities, and honestly, I hated being there. I imagine it is what prison or jail feels like. So I'm sitting in the "tv room" one day, and seen this commercial on TV about starving children in Africa. I thought to myself, "those poor kids have nothing". These kids wake up everyday, only wanting to do one thing.....LIVE! I felt like an idiot after watching that commercial. I had so much to live for; a house, a car, a beautiful daughter, a good job....but I wanted to end my life because things "seemed" to tough to handle?

I went to one of the staff and told them I was ready to leave. Of course I had to speak with a psychiatrist before I did, but I was home the next day. Something that I always try to do when times get tough, is put myself in someone else's shoes. It just makes you think more clearly when you do. I've read of teenagers killing themselves because people at their school make fun of them for being one way or another, and I hate that. I hate that there was no one there to help them through their rough time in life. Life isn't that hard, it just needs to be understood. That's what I'm here for. If you or someone you know is having trouble in life, let someone know. Nothing in life is worth killing yourself over, I can promise you that! Life is a beautiful thing. Just take the time to really look at it, and not just your side of it.
