So nice of you to drop by, thank you so much for doing so! In case you don't happen to know who I am, my name is Mark. I'm a 23-year old who's currently building a life that I want to enjoy for the long term. This blog is designed for young adults who seek guidance and clarity on the problems that life often throws at us. What you will gain from reading my blog entries is the wisdom that I've learned along the way that has helped me create and live a better life. You can absolutely do the same. If you happen to read some of my oldest entries, you will notice how I've changed along the way compared to now.

I want to remind you that we all go through challenges and obstacles. We can't go back and change what happened. All we can do is our best at the end of the day and learn from experience so we don't end up repeating the same mistakes.

If you ever want to message me about anything, feel free to PM me and I will answer back as soon as possible.

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great day wherever you are in whatever time zone you are in!

Stop me if you've heard this:
You make plans with someone,
You ask if they can show up,
They say "Yeah for sure,"
Or "Maybe, I'll get back to you."

Then, on the day of
Whatever it is you plan
To do with that person,
Whether it'd be hanging out,
Or maybe going out
To an event or even a movie,
They don't get back to you.

Or they will send you a text last minute
Telling you he/she can't make it
Because of XYZ things,
Or often times,
The reason for bailing is very vague.

So, if it happens the first time,
You don't want to be a jackass
And cut them off completely
Over one failed attempt
At spending time together.

So, you sit around reasoning with yourself
Because maybe what was going on
Was a more important matter
That person had to attend to that time.

But then when you give that person
Another chance, or several chances,
You find that the same exact pattern
Is repeating itself over and over again.

The person keeps saying sorry for bailing,
But when you accept their sorry,
He/she does very little to nothing
In return to show their appreciation
For you giving them another chance,
Or even better yet, they make it up to you.

Of course, we all know that
Things do come up last minute,
And sometimes we don't
Have a control over that,
Especially if it's really an emergency,
But if that person keeps agreeing
To the plans you make with them,
But never follows through with them,
And the same pattern keeps happening
Over and over again...

Something is up,
And the truth of the matter is...

You're not important.

If you were important and valuable
To that person you so desperately
Make plans to spend time with,
He/she wouldn't keep giving you
Excuses as to why they can't.

And here's the thing,
You may be wondering
Why they can't just tell you "no?"

Well, generally speaking,
When someone flat out
Tells someone "no,"
It comes off as harsh
And mean to say such a word,
And that person would feel bad
For telling a person such a word.

Generally, that's what people believe.

So, instead, they say things
Such as "Maybe, we'll see,"
Or "I don't know yet,"
Or "I can probably go,"
Or "Yeah man for sure, definitely,"
As a much "nicer" alternative
To saying a flat out "no."
Then, these people figure out
Some way to get out of the plans
They half-heartedly agreed to,
And come up with "excuses"
As to why they can't
Spend time with the person
That asked to spend time.

Guys and gals,
If you are so unsure
Or you know for sure
That you don't want
To spend time with someone,
Just be honest and politely
Turn the person down.

Sure, the other person may feel
A bit of a downer when you turn them down,
But eventually, they'll just move on.

Nothing is more annoying and frustrating
Than to have someone agree to your plans,
Then when come the day of spending time,
They completely bail on you,
And offer a vague to no explanation
As to why they couldn't meet up.

Not only you waste someone's time,
Which that time is their most
Valuable asset that can't be
Replenished like money can,
But you also show disrespect
When you do it on a consistent level.

Don't commit to the plans,
Don't agree to the plans,
Don't give someone a false hope,
Don't say you'll be there
When you REALLY won't be.

If you can't be upfront and honest
With the people you come
To contact with...

How do you expect others
To be upfront and honest with you
When it's your turn
To ask to spend time?
