It's been such a long while since I've blogged on here, and I gotta say that with TeenHelp back now (and running faster than ever thankfully), it's good to start blogging once again. Alright, so onto this particular entry itself. Now, some of you may get the impression that I'm asking to talk to you over a cup of coffee (hopefully that isn't the case, hahaha ), but in actuality, this is not what the title means. The meaning behind the title is basically the story of my very first date ever with a girl. If you've been reading my past blog entries, especially those from a while back, you'd know by now that for a really long time, I've been yearning for a companion to share my life with. I had been through some of the worst experiences with girls (i.e. my prom date, which was just flat out a total fluke, but I'll probably save that for another entry), but with this particular girl I went out with, I felt an igniting spark within me that made me so happy that I almost couldn't hide my smile, nor stop thinking about this girl. I start to think that maybe she could be that special someone I've been waiting for. Let's give a backstory of how I met her before the date.

On a typical night coming out from work, I decided that I needed to go to Target (it's literally right next door to where I work at) since I needed to return something. As I went inside to the Guest Service desk to return the item that I needed to get cash back on, this young blonde girl was the one that was helping me out with the transaction. Once it was all said and done, she began initiating a conversation with me saying how I look very familiar to her, and she then goes on telling me how she sees me around Target quite a lot. I begin to become real interested in her, and so we talked for quite a bit. As the conversation came to a close, we both introduced ourselves before going our separate ways. I found her name to be Luci. So, as I walked away from my brief encounter with her, I became really fascinated with our brief conversation, and I would get a chance to talk to her again (and get her phone number, which I'll get to in a moment). So, several days pass by, and I got a chance to talk to Luci for a bit a couple of times, but again, it was only brief. However, last Thursday, I happened to run into her on her break, and I got a chance to talk to her again. Only this time, our conversation was a bit longer than usual. I find myself enjoying the conversation, and once it was time to close it off, this is where I got the "deer in the headlights" feeling. I wanted to ask her for her number, but for some reason, I almost couldn't even say it. So, for about 10 seconds (maybe a little more), I stood there blanking out in front of Luci, and then after that, she asked me if I wanted her number. I then told her that I did, and went on saying that she seems like a really nice person, and I'd like to get to know her better. She then asks me for my age, and of course, I say that I'm 18. After that, she tells me that she's 21 (which I wasn't surprised since I had the feeling that she's a little older than I am). Despite knowing one another's age, she gives me her phone number. Afterwards, we say our goodbyes and part ways, leaving me with a very warm, fuzzy feeling of happiness, and a smile that I almost couldn't hide. I go ahead and text her, and in a couple of days after that, I decided to ask her out. However, when I got her response, it turned out that she had instead asked me out to get some coffee in the evening at Starbucks. Having a feeling of joy and excitement rushing through me as I read that, I gladly accept it, and it was set: we would meet there at 6:45 in the afternoon. I was so stoked for this first date that it was almost the only thing that I was thinking of. I was looking forward to this being an amazing night, but instead, it turned out to be something else almost entirely....

So, Tuesday comes around, and as soon as I get off from working a morning shift, I became pretty nervous about the date. This was something that I had never done with ANY girl before, and if you can't tell already, I was pretty nervous, but at the same time, excited and really happy as well. Before I even get to Starbucks, I go ahead and visit a couple of friends, which really helped ease the nervousness that I was feeling. I hang out with them for a bit, and it felt really good doing so. When it was time, I go straight over to Starbucks, and I'm there 5 minutes early. I realize that she's not there yet, so I patiently wait for her outside Starbucks. By the time that Luci gets there, I find that she's 7 minutes late... At first that worried me, but as soon as I reason with myself later on after the date about that, I end up not holding that against her. So, I hold the door open for her, and we go in to get some coffee. As soon as we do, I pay for the both of us, and she sincerely thanked me for that. After we get our coffee, we sit down at a table, and begin initiating the conversation. The conversation itself was really pleasant, and I felt like I was having a nice time with Luci. I learn certain things about her that really surprised me (e.g. she's into video games, and she's actually a Dutch girl, meaning she can actually speak Dutch, and I found it really fascinating, hahaha ). It was really nice though.

As only an hour into the evening passed by and we both finished our coffee, here's where things turned me off...we go outside, and she already suggests that we go our separate ways, meaning that she wanted to end the evening already... Personally, I didn't want the evening to end. In fact, I was actually hoping we'd go for at least 3 hours if not more. So, to make the evening longer, I made the decision to go take a stroll around a nearby neighborhood with her, and thankfully, she agreed to do so with me. Extending my arm for her to wrap around her arm around mine, we take a walk and talk more. I begin learning even more great things about her (i.e. she took piano lessons for 7 years, when she was a kid, she wanted to become a veterinarian, some amusing stories she shared with me, and also some beliefs that she has a strong voice in), and that only just made me more drawn into her. We may not have all the same exact interests, but we do share the same viewpoints as to how we view the world around us and how we both like to lend people a helping hand in their social issues. After our walk in the neighborhood and back to the parking lot near Starbucks, we walk to my car (I completely forgot to walk her to her car, but oh well, maybe I'll get a chance next time), and we both close off the evening (I really wanted to keep on going, but I just decided to go with it to show respect to her decision). As we said our goodbyes, Luci extends her arms out for a hug, but instead, I kissed her on the cheek. She was pleasantly surprised, and said thank you. Then, we once again went our separate ways. I watch her go to her car and leave while I'm inside my car. Shortly after, I turn on the ignition in my car, and drive back home.

As I got home, I was left with mixed feelings about this first date I went on with Luci. I decide to text her asking if she got home safely, and shortly later, she replied that she did and thanked me for the nice evening. I reply back saying no problem, and offer to hang out again sometime. She told me she'll be busy, but she'll let me know when there's a free time that comes up. Then, the text conversation ends there. At this point, you're probably thinking that I had a great date, and you know what: now that I typed out this whole story, I felt like I really did. I don't know why I felt kind of disappointed, and was left with a feeling that the date could've gone a bit better, but for what it was, I believe it was a great (if not the best) first date. I guess you could say that I was just worried about what's going to happen with me and Luci from here now that we went out on our first date. Will I really hear from her again soon? Or was all that brief talk about going out again sometime just a play along when really, she doesn't want to go out with me again...?

I don't know honestly, and as I conclude this entry, I'm still wondering what is to become of me and Luci. Will we end up becoming official, are we just only meant to be friends and nothing more than that, or will she be one of the many girls that have gone out of my life?

Well, regardless of where the road takes me down on that one, I'm sure that it'll be for the better. In the meantime, the mystery goes on, or maybe, my wait for a true companion goes on...

This sounds like a good first date. You were kind and compassionate and I am sure that this girl realized all those things. I know that when you first meet someone there are times when you want to keep things going but I think it was good that you respected Luci's wishes. The fact is that if this does become more the two of you will probably have many more evenings to work on getting to know each other and hanging out.

Try not to think too much about what will happen and instead enjoy the moments. Hopefully this girl will text you back with a time she can meet up or if you guys see each other again maybe you can continue talking and go from there.

If you don't hear back from her don't be disheartened because you will find a companion. It can take a while to find that special someone but once you do you won't care about all the girls that things didn't work out with.

You're right. Now that I think about it more, this really did turn out to be a good first date.

Yeah, I don't know why I went into such moods afterwards, but like I said, it was because I became worried. Sounds like this is the best thing to do for now.

That's a really good way to put it, and that is true even though I haven't experienced that yet.

Well, I appreciate the fact that you took a moment to give me some useful advice; it really helped, so thank you so much.
