A Night to Remember

As I've been looking back at everything I've been through up to this point in my life, there's one experience I went through that I'll never forget. It was an experience that really got me to smile so much that I just wish that it was meant to be. So, let's get on with the story:
It was the middle of June last year, and I had just finished my Junior year on a good note. Summer had just began, and that time, I hadn't really done a whole lot other than going to the movies with the Movie Club group people at school since I was a part of that club to go see Man of Steel. Well, since I was really impressed with how great Man of Steel was, I decided to go see the movie again, but this time, I saw it with my mom. So, it's Tuesday night, and there's a bunch of people waiting in line to see Man of Steel. While standing in line when my mom had to go use the restroom, I had stood right next to an attractive, beautiful blonde female, and she started talking to me and starting off the conversation by awkwardly saying hi with a smile on her face. After doing so, all of a sudden she started apologizing to me, but I remember that I had said something along the lines of "There's no need to be sorry." (I can't quite remember what I had actually said to her, but it was something along the lines of that), and I began initiating a conversation with her. She went with it really well, and better than I had expected actually; I actually really enjoyed it. So, right when we start going in to the theater room to find a seat, I catch a glance at her, she looks back at me, and gives me a really nice smile. I literally just melted in my seat, hahaha. I'll be honest though: I got kind of distracted while watching the movie because I was just really fascinated with this girl, and I wanted to find out what her name was, and stay in touch with her so that we can get to know each other better.
Right when the movie ended and everybody got out of their seats to go to the lobby and head out the door, I began looking for this girl, and there she was just standing there waiting in the lobby. I approached her, and asked her for her name. Then, we both introduced ourselves to one another. This girl's name is Kendra. As we shook hands, I just found it hard to believe and shocking to what she had said to me next, and it was this: "You're really cute (followed by that really nice smile on her face). My heart just literally sank when she had said that. I thanked her for the compliment, and I had told her that she's cute too. That just told me right there that she's really interested in me. Looking back at this, I really wish that I had just talked about the movie with her rather than talking with her about what we actually talked about, but after that, we began talking to one another again, this time on the topic of what school we go to, and that's when the shock came for both of us. I found out that she's in college, and while she did go to the high school that I currently attend, she graduated there in 2010. Then, upon talking further, she had found out that I'm going to be initiating into my senior year this coming school year. In our minds, our reaction was basically this: So, after that, I began telling her "I'm interested in getting to know you more. Is there any way I can keep in contact with you?" She then told to add her as a friend on Facebook, and then I told her that I'll be sending my greetings to her along the way. When we headed outside, we said bye to one another, smiled at one another, and it ended there.
For a whole week, this was how I was feeling: I felt like this was a turning point for me, and I had felt like I had really found a girl (or woman so to speak) that I can finally be with. I felt like my search had been over. So, right after the night that we met, I add her as a friend on Facebook, and wait for her to accept my friend request so that I can go on and message her to pick back up where we left off. However, weeks and months passed by, and I never heard back from her (I didn't message her however).... You can imagine how disappointed I was when I didn't hear back from her. I figured out why she might've backed out on me, and it must've been that at the time I met her, I was still 17, and she was 21. So, maybe that might've been the reason, but I don't really know exactly.
For a long while, I kept replaying that moment that we met in my mind, and I kept remembering how happy I was feeling that night. I was disappointed because despite our age difference, I felt like I could've had a really great relationship with her. I kept asking myself "Why didn't it happen? Was it just not meant to be?"
After 6 months since I had met Kendra, I decided to go ahead and just message her today on Facebook. In my message I had said "Hey Kendra! It's me Mark (the guy that you met at the movies in the middle of June during the Man of Steel movie screening). It's been a long while I've heard from you since that night that we met. Well, I just wanted to say that I hope everything has been going well for you, and that you've been enjoying the holidays. I also wanted to say that I wish you all the best in everything that you do, and everything that's to come in the future for you. Happy New Year, and take care of yourself." I wanted to message her just to say that because I had been thinking about her over the course of these past 6 months, and I felt that I wanted to just say something to her. Plus, who knows? Maybe I'll hear from her, but if I don't hear back from her, at least I said all the things I wanted to say (well, almost everything), and that I can just say that I can just bring this selection of my life to a close. Besides, it won't be the end of the world for me if Kendra doesn't respond, and it just ends there.
Well, like what's been said before: life is about taking calculated risks because sometimes, you never really know what the outcome of something will be if you don't look into it and give it a try. I'm giving it a try with Kendra, and if it's not meant to be, then not only can I say that I can bring this to a close, but at least I went out of my way to find out.
